I planned to be in Abu Dhabi by now, bringing you global airline news from the CAPA Americas Summit. Unfortunately, just before leaving for the airport — it was to be my first Emirates business class experience! — I started to feel sick. I'm glad I aborted, as I felt significantly worse over the weekend, and until Monday, quite narcoleptic. But it's not all bad news.
Last week, International Airlines Group (IAG) held an analyst day, and since I'm not traveling this week, I thought I would write to you about all the juicy strategy nuggets shared by management, including a discussion on the group's most profitable routes, its plans for Air Europa, its ideas to revamp its loyalty program, and its internal processes for deciding which airline in the group flies where.
